Alternatives to Cove: Which is better?

Cove competes with other DIY security systems, including Ring and SimpliSafe, as well as professionally installed services such as ADT and Vivint. But considering the overall quality and affordability of the system, Cove has a high-end feel at a low-end cost. 

Cove vs. Ring: Ring has a much bigger stable of home automation equipment than Cove, offers more affordable professional monitoring, and gives you the ability to self-monitor. However, only Cove offers such equipment features as a touchscreen control panel, and, unlike Ring, it will integrate with Google Home.

Cove vs. SimpliSafe: Both companies offer very similarly priced equipment and monitoring plans though only SimpliSafe gives you the option to self-monitor. Both allow you to build your system from the ground up, but SimpliSafe offers a number of prepackaged kits. While Cove offers some premium equipment, such as its touchscreen control panel, SimpliSafe offers a much larger selection of home automation equipment.

Cove vs. Vivint: Vivint’s monitoring and equipment fees are significantly higher than Cove’s. Plus, Vivint generally requires users to commit to a long-term contract while Cove does not. That said, Vivint’s equipment, which it develops and builds in-house, is well-regarded for its high quality and sleek look. Vivint also offers a much more robust collection of home automation equipment.
